CardKeep

Terms of use

Effective October 3, 2026 · Ahlchemy Author Company, State of Missouri, USA

Draft modeled on attorney-reviewed templates — have counsel review before relying on it.

1. Acceptance

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Ahlchemy Author Company ("we", "us"). By using CardKeep, you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. What CardKeep is

CardKeep is a tool for storing your own loyalty, membership, and library card numbers and displaying their barcodes on your device. Use it only for cards you are entitled to use. Don't use it to store or present codes you aren't authorized to use, or to break the law.

3. Your data & backups

The free tier stores your data on your device. You are responsible for keeping backups (Settings → Export). We are not responsible for data lost when you clear site data, change devices, or uninstall. See Delete your data for how to remove it.

4. Free tier & Pro

The free tier is provided at no charge and is a complete product. Pro is an optional one-time purchase (planned at $4.99) that adds cross-device sync, household sharing, and cloud backup; it is not active in this release. Pro is a one-time unlock tied to your license — there is no subscription and no auto-renewal. When Pro is available, a Pro purchase may be used on your devices as described at purchase.

5. Refunds

For the one-time Pro purchase, you may request a full refund within fourteen (14) days of purchase by emailing admin@ahlchemy.org. Purchases made through an app store are also subject to that store's refund policy.

6. Local-first & offline — important notice

CardKeep stores your data in your browser's local storage. Browsers (especially iOS/WebKit) may evict locally stored data when the device is low on space or the app hasn't been opened for a period of time, and clearing site data removes it. Keep your own backups (Settings → Export). We cannot recover data your browser or operating system has evicted or you have cleared. Barcode rendering depends on your device and the store's scanner; keep your physical card as a fallback where it matters.

7. Acceptable use

Don't misuse the app: no unlawful use, no attempts to break, overload, or reverse the service, no use of others' codes without authorization.

8. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES

CardKeep is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that a barcode will scan at any particular retailer or device.

9. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ahlchemy Author Company will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data or profits, arising from your use of CardKeep. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Ahlchemy Author Company from claims arising out of your misuse of the app or violation of these Terms.

11. Dispute resolution — informal first, then arbitration

Informal resolution. Before filing anything, you agree to contact admin@ahlchemy.org and give us 30 days to resolve the dispute informally.

Binding arbitration. If we can't resolve it, disputes will be settled by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association, seated in Webster County, Missouri (or conducted virtually for claims under $10,000), under Missouri law.

Class-action & jury-trial waiver. You and we agree to bring claims only in an individual capacity, and waive any right to a jury trial or to participate in a class action.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules; venue and forum are Webster County, Missouri, subject to Section 11.

13. Changes, severability, entire agreement

We may modify these Terms; material changes are shown by a new effective date. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These Terms, with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about CardKeep.

14. App Store terms (Apple)

If you obtained CardKeep from the Apple App Store: these Terms are between you and Ahlchemy Author Company only, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its support. You agree the app complies with the App Store Terms of Service. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. You warrant you are not located in an embargoed country or on a U.S. prohibited-parties list.

15. Export

CardKeep uses only standard transport encryption (TLS) and includes no proprietary cryptography; it is not subject to special export restrictions on encryption. You agree not to use it in violation of U.S. export laws.
